We welcome you to The British International School, Cairo.
Established in 1976 as a non-profit society, BISC is Egypt’s oldest and most established British International school, aiming to deliver educational excellence. Rooted in the best traditions of British education and its evolving curriculum, BISC has undergone continuous modernisation, transforming from its initial rented space in Agouza to a location hosted by the Anglican Church in Zamalek, and finally to its current architectural gem – a world-class school facility in West Cairo.
Each academic year marks another successful year at BISC; a school that will soon celebrate its 50th anniversary of providing educational service to Cairo’s Egyptian and expatriate communities.
BISC strives to retain and recruit top UK-accredited teachers across all subjects, and pursues an ambitious plan to modernise its infrastructure, IT systems and all electromechanical assets.
2022 saw the launch of BISC’s important Egypt and the Middle East Programme. This programme aims to prepare future generations of BISC students to excel and lead in various walks of life. The multi-faceted programme delves into Egypt and the Middle East’s recent history, political nuances, music, culture and art; ultimately fostering a deeper understanding of the Arabic language and Egyptian culture. The programme’s long-term goal is to gradually transform BISC into Egypt’s first truly bilingual school of the modern era, one that remains firmly anchored in the best traditions of British education.
