Key Stage 3
Key Stage 3
PE students (11 to 14 years) become more advanced in the acquisition
and application of skills. They begin to understand what makes a
performance effective and how to apply specific principles to their
own and others’ work. They identify the types of activities they
prefer to be involved with and to take on a variety of roles such as
leader and official. Students develop knowledge, skills and
understanding through participation in a variety of activities such
as games, athletics, dance, gymnastics and swimming.
Key Stage 4
(core PE)
Key Stage 4
PE students (14 to 16 years) tackle complex and demanding activities
applying their knowledge of skills, techniques and effective
performance. They have far more choice over whether to focus on
physical activities that emphasise competition or performance, or
those that promote health and develop personal fitness. The aim is
to
develop within our students the self-perception, physical competence
and motivation required to pursue sport out of school and in later
life.
