KEY STAGE ONE
Key
Stage One is home to all the fun if you are between the ages of five and
seven. Whether it is getting to grips with those number lines, learning
your alphabet, painting a masterpiece or just experimenting in the sand
tray, this Key Stage offers your child the chance to flourish. Covering
the content of the British National Curriculum, the children face
exciting challenges and learning experiences daily.
Learning and life skills
We encourage independence, responsibility and foster life skills that
children will need outside school, such as interpersonal skills and how
to care for your environment. In addition to its six-strong teaching
team, Key Stage One has a full-time learning support assistant in each
class. There is a dedicated staff member for English as a Second
Language (ESL) pupils who provides extra support for those children who
need it.
The children also have specialist teachers for Music, PE and Gym. Why
not drop by the classrooms some time and check out our latest displays
of the children's work? Recent displays have included ‘Holidays' and
‘Uniforms We Wear'.
In Key Stage One we like to use our local environment to the full to
provide a context for the children’s learning. We love to have people in
sharing their expertise with us. Dentists and artists, nurses and new
mums have all come and talked to us and answered the children's
questions. We welcome any parent who has a skill to offer or who just
likes to help out in class.
