The Primary School Summer Exhibition 2005

This has now become an annual event in the Primary School as every classroom displays a sample of the work achieved by the pupils. They act as guides and show their parents around not just their class but the whole of the Primary School. Some of the many highlights were:

Foundation Stage 1

Artist in Residence for the Primary School, June 2005

Amy Hauschild has been an ' Artist in Residence' for pupils in Foundation Stage and Year One. Amy is experienced in similar projects in London and around the UK with children aged 3-11. She specialises in embroidery illustrations and has had work published. This summer she will be exhibiting work in Denmark. She has worked creatively on several projects at BISC including a large giraffe that children in Foundation Stage 1 made using an electric sewing machine. This project also enabled the children to look at heights- their own and others!

Foundation Stage 2

Spiders made by the children and photographs of pupils and adults looking at heights and ages- the consensus was the tallest was not always the eldest!

Year 1

The Artist in Residence was also in evidence here with some fascinating reports written by the children answering questions about what they wanted to do when they grew up- answers ranged from ‘being a mother’ to ‘ being a journalist’.

Year 2

Examples of puppets, jigsaws, ceramics fired in the kiln and the study of artists including Picasso featured here in a very colourful display.

Year 3

Evidence of ‘Science Week’ featured here.

Year 4

Featured a beautiful display of large work looking at the Egyptian geographical landscape - a huge centre piece of the exhibition. The new Year 4 camping trip to the desert. Was also evident.

Year 5

Some musical instruments made by the pupils and a great display of written work on the Titanic.

Year 6

Opportunities to make shapes from sweets, the study of the artist Georgia O’Keefe as well as diaries kept by the children of their trip to El Alamein were all evident of the busy last year of the Primary School.

All the work books were on display for parents to view, in all years. The Primary School section of the ‘Year Book’ has a substantial section dedicated to showing the work from the Summer Exhibition.
