BISC alumni: wins a place in the Cambridge University (Inter-varsity) Debating Competition in November 2005
BISC alumni Niamh McBurney who left BISC in 2004 after her GCSE’s to be a boarder at St Columba’s College, Dublin has been very successful in the AIB National Public Speaking Competition at Trinity College, Dublin. Niamh entered the competition in the first year of the Lower Sixth. Other participants included under graduates from Trinity College, was involved in four different categories of public speaking. These included:
Persuasive speaking: Why are school uniforms good?
After Dinner Speech: Society, teenagers, teachers and the pressures of the Leaving Certificate (the final examination for students in Ireland)
Parliamentary Debate: This House would ban fox hunting in Ireland- where she proposed the motion
Impromptu Speaking: Is a European Super –State good? - Where she opposed the motion

Persuasive Speaking: Rule 42(a very contentious issue within the Gaelic Football community in Ireland, concerning using the national stadium for other Sports)
Niamh (whose younger brother and sister are still at BISC) regularly comes back to BISC in the holidays. We wish her the very best of luck in Cambridge later this year.
