BISC triumph at CAFOSSA Middle School Swimming Gala!
On Saturday 4 th June, 12 pupils from S1 to S3 accompanied Mr Rowe to New Cairo British International School for the inaugural middle school swimming championships. We had high hopes of doing well as a number of our pupils train regularly outside school. 5 schools took part and events ranged through all 4 strokes up to a distance of 100 metres. Competitors had to swim in heats in order to gain a place in the finals. There was a high standard of competition and BISC pupils managed to get at least one competitor in every final.
Individually, 4 pupils managed to win their finals. Carolina Aguirre in S3 and Tarek Diab (who in fact is still in year 6 of the primary school) both won one gold each and Jenan Sheta and Ahmed Osman both won an amazing 3 gold medals each.
As the final scores were being announced we were told that only 1 point separated positions 2 to 4. As BISC’s name was not announced in any of these positions we waited with baited breath. Finally our prayers were answered when the announcer said that the winning team with a lead of 9 points were BISC! We were presented with a pendant and a magnificent shield which we can keep until next years competition. Congratulations go to all pupils who took part and made their own individual contributions to a great success. Well done!
