Year 7 - Year 9 Art Gallery

The aim and purpose of art and design is to develop creativity and imagination through visual, tactile and sensory experiences. During Year 7 - Year 9, pupils develop practical, technical and critical skills and use visual and tactile language to communicate their ideas, feelings and meanings. Through art and design pupils learn to make value judgements and aesthetic and practical decisions; exploring ideas and meanings in the work of artists, craftspeople and designers.

In art and design, pupils develop skills in order to:

  • explore and develop ideas;
  • investigate and make art, craft and design;
  • evaluate and develop work.

Year 8 have completed work based on the theme of SHOES. They have drawn from observation, looked at colour and pattern and concluded with a composition entitled “Walk that walk”

Year 9 have commenced with observational drawings, using LINE, TONE, TEXTURE and SHADOW. They have worked out PERSPECTIVE and PROPORTION. They have worked in acrylic paints, considered the colour circle and in most cases used complimentary colours. S3 have studied artists and related their work to that of David Bomberg, (1890- 1957) especially his painting entitled “the Hold”
