Sports Roundup - Week 12

Under 11 Girls’ Football

The Under 11 girls’ A and B teams played two friendly matches last weekend against El Alsson. The results were: B team drew 3-3 and then lost 1-0 and the A team drew 0-0 and then drew 1-1. The girls played really well and scored some lovely goals. Ms Foley switched some players around from team to team, as we were using this fixture to help us test the girls in a competitive environment, to aid with the final selections for the BSME/COBIS games. The girls actually scored 3 more goals than the opposition did, even though we drew 3 games and lost one. I will leave it to you, the readers, to figure that one out! It was a lovely morning and the girls all listened well and tried to execute the skills learnt and build on their team work.

Under 11 Boys Basketball

The boys from Years 5 and 6 played a friendly game against El Alsson, which also coupled as an extended training session to fully understand their role on the court. It was pleasing to see a marked improvement in the performance from a month or so ago.

U19 Rugby

The senior rugby squad held an extensive training session alongside the El Alsson team over the weekend, where all the coaches from the two schools organised position specific drills to help all the players. This was then followed by a match. The BISC team are stepping up preparation for their upcoming tour to Kenya.

Football - Year 5’s

The Year 5 team had an entertaining 7-3 win against the AIS-W U11 B team. Two goals each from Aly Taalab, Adrian Ebersbach and Yassin Attia, as well as one from Mohamed Moustafa completed the scoring for BISC. There were strong performances from Milo Awadalla in defence and Omar Kateb in midfield to complement the work of the goal-scorers.

U11 Football - Year 6’s

The Year 6 team played very well in their 3-1 victory over AIS-W. Youssef Montasser was involved in all three of the BISC goals, scoring the first from the penalty spot, then scoring the goal of the match with a left footed curling effort to the top corner. The scoring was completed when Youssef crossed the ball, allowing Hassan Zorba to bravely glide the ball home. It was an evenly fought encounter that could have gone either way; the BISC defence coped well with all attacks with Rami Sheta and Muhammed El Shahed being resolute.

U12 Boys’ Football

U12 Football game 22/11/2016 which took place at BISC. The game followed the same format as the previous week fixture also against AIS with both teams playing an 8 a side 20 minute each half game. BISC comfortably won the previous encounter on the previous occasion. This time around the fixture proved a valuable learning curve for the boys as they were absent 4 regular players whom strongly feature for this age group. The game began with BISC taking an early lead through Rafik which was the first of his 4 goals on the day. BISC went into their half time team talk with a comfortable 2 goal lead both goals courtesy of Rafik. BISC made several changes to personal and positions at half time to experiment with the team and to examine alternative tactics. AIS rallied well following the break and forced a number of defensive errors from BISC leading to goal scoring opportunities of which they converted. BISC responded with a further 2 goals from some old fashioned wing play again resulting in Rafik scoring all 4 goals for the home side.

U12 Girls’ Football

The team played a rematch against AIS-W and they played very well this week, winning the match 5-1. Abbie Roberts opened the scoring with a powerful shot following an excellent through ball from Lili Moustafa and she then scored again following a cross from Karma. Karma then scored two well taken goals herself either side of halftime and the scoring was completed by Lili Moustafa with a left foot strike. It was a very strong team performance with Mariam Samad exerting an influence as the game progressed.
